Reactive Arthritis
A lot of defects are associated with the joints and muscles. There are injuries which are caused by unsafe reactions to certain virus or bacteria. Stiffness and inflammation of the joints are the usual characteristics of arthritis. In general, most arthritis diseases like reactive arthritis are recurring in nature, which makes the condition longer.
Arthritis is a health problem that may have an impact on the different parts of the body. The pain and discomfort caused by arthritis is considered as short-term in nature. Different types of arthritis particularly reactive arthritis may result in some conditions like tenderness, irritation and distension of the joints. But there are symptoms of arthritis that are less severe. These symptoms may give rise to slow destruction of the joints.
Typically, arthritis is categorized into two general classifications. They are the osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis. But there is also another form of arthritis that is becoming rampant in the world. It is the condition known as reactive arthritis.
What is reactive arthritis? Basically reactive arthritis is an inveterate type of arthritis that involves conditions, specifically swollen joints, soreness of the eyes, and swelling of the urinary or gastrointestinal system of the body.
This condition is called reactive for the reason that it is usually associated with the reaction of body’s immune system to certain infections attributable to virus or bacteria. In view of that, most people’s immune systems are heritably ready to react abnormally when any of these areas are infected with bacteria. The unusual reaction of the immune system results in impulsive swelling in the joints of the body.
Sometimes reactive arthritis is also called as Reiter syndrome. This is in connection with Dr. Hans Reiter, who is among those who support the Nazi political affairs and medical outrage.
More often than not, reactive arthritis is prevalent to patients between the ages of 30’s to 40’s. However, it may also strike at any age. The kind of reactive arthritis that happens because of infection in the genital system is said to be more common in men. On the other hand, the kind of reactive arthritis that is caused by infection in the gastrointestinal system is prevalent in both men and women.
The reactive form of arthritis is also identified to be a systemic rheumatic illness. This implies that it has the tendency to influence other organs of the body aside from the joints. This may also give rise to swelling in tissues located in the eyes, skin, mouth, heart and lungs. Reactive arthritis has several characteristics that are quite similar to other arthritis disease like psoriatic arthritis and others. Most of these arthritis diseases may lead to soreness in the spine, eyes, and other organs of the body. Because of their comparable features in making the spine swollen, these arthritis conditions are collectively known as Spondyloarthropathies.
